NAS OS 4

Evolution of network attach storage (NAS) operating system to support 3rd party apps

Approach
I collaborated with the product line manager, software engineers, and other cross-functional team members to identify and specify features to be developed. I worked closely with support team members as the device was beta tested to resolve issues before release.

Challenges
Key team members were in different locations and time zones, so proactive and clear communication was key to removing roadblocks. The backlog of features was also large, so continual re-prioritization was critical to ensure the release met larger company goals.

Outcome
The streamlined operating system experience was received well by users and tech reviewers, and was promoted as a competitive advantage. The inclusion of 3rd party applications expanded the total available market supported devices could be sold to.

Sdrive iOS

MVP for secure, mobile, anywhere access to network attached storage files

Approach
I developed the application scope with the product line manager based on competitive analysis and customer feedback, and steered the design direction to use native iOS design patterns.

Challenges
The application’s architecture was based on core functionality from another app, so the team had to work around legacy technical constraints. User on-boarding could not initially be supported from the mobile device, so extra work was invested to clarify this through quick start guides and support material.

Outcome
The application was released on time, and the features outlined for the iOS app set the direction for the Android version.

Inspection App

1st release of mobile app for freight inspectors

Approach
I collaborated with the Business Analyst and UX Researcher to sketch and prototype design solutions. I participated in requirements gathering meetings and usability studies to refine the designs, and worked with developers and QA through implementation.

Challenges
The timeline for the app’s first release was short, so we had to work closely as a team to ensure we met our deadline without sacrificing quality. Additionally, the visual design standards evolved multiple times throughout the project’s development, so I had to coordinate with the project manager and developers to keep our project up-to-date without impacting timelines.

Outcome
The application launch was well received by business stakeholders and the 290 freight inspectors using the app, and revenue goals for the app exceeded expectations.

LaCie.com Product Pages

Improved digital marketing for world-wide product promotion

Approach
I worked with the web content manager, writers, and marketing team to create a design template that could tell a story for simple and complex products. Additionally, I worked with the traffic manager to develop an end-to-end process for localizing text and graphics accurately and efficiently.

Challenges
The team had to overcome technical constraints that had previously restricted including images or JavaScript in the major content of the page.

Outcome
The new product page template was received well by marketing and sales teams, and increased the sales conversions we had on our site, and other sites like Amazon where the content was repurposed.
